Notes on this weeks box

It is good to have farming friends! The oyster mushrooms and shiitake mushrooms are grown by local companies. We have an oyster block here at the store. Check it out when you pick up your box. The mushrooms will start growing in it soon. My friend Sophia brings me the shiitakes. There is a recipe for them. We love to mix the oyster mushrooms in our scrambled eggs. You can also add them to soups or spaghetti sauces.
We wash the lettuce and spinach so you can eat it right out of the bag. You can always rinse it again if you want. I would suggest using the spinach in a salad, rather than cooking it--it will shrink up into a few bites!
There are a few edible pod peas for tossing on top of your salads--more in the weeks to come!
The asparagus is just coming on, so we can harvest for a few more weeks.
The jam is made from berries that we grow, and hand pick when fully ripe, so there is fresh fruit flavor in every bite since we use a minimum amount of sugar to make it.
You can click on the healthy recipes tab for lots of recipes--in alphabetical order by name of recipe.
